I have been taking yoga with Serene White for 2-1/2 years.  It is a gentle form of yoga that anyone can do. I am more relaxed, less stressed and bothered by life's annoyances and have developed
a different understanding and appreciation of my body.  Thanks, Serene!  Toni Stephenson

Yoga Class Schedule

Serene Yoga and Healing offers a fundamentally different approach to the physical practice of
yoga. CPY is based in subtle awareness, releasing deep muscular tension, and support. Therefore students in yoga pose in classgroup sessions are deliberately smaller for a uniquely personalized approach within a small group setting.

Regardless of age, body type, or physical condition, you can practice this form of yoga. SY & H offers 3 different types of small group programs. Poses are customized to your body’s needs, and personal alignments and hands-on assists are included in each class. See the descriptions below to find the program that is best suited for you.

Yoga Essentials

Each session lasts an hour and a half and is choreographed to suit the needs of those who are brand new to yoga as well as those with experience. The "essentials" are the foundational spinal openers that comprise Contemplative Practice Yoga® and it’s body-mind benefits and are a key component to every session.

Yoga Deep

Yoga Deep meets for an hour and forty-five minutes. Sessions are designed to take that which has been practiced in Yoga Essentials to the next level for a richer, fuller, deeper experience of yoga. Poses may be held longer, added assists are included, and other elements to enhance the overall experience and benefits of yoga. Special permission by instructor is required before being admitted to
this program.

Flow Yoga

Every movement, whether a thought or a physical activity, emanates from a point of utter stillness. Our ability to maintain awareness of this still point in our daily activities and thought is a process which unfolds as the tensions in our bodies fall away, as our minds become calmer. Contemplative PracticeTM Flow Yoga is designed for the cultivation of our awareness of this still point in a continuing flow of easy movement. One ore more sessions of Yoga Essentials or Yoga Deep are prerequisites.

About Contemplative Practice Yoga™ Classes

With core release as the basis for approaching the body classes are choreographed to support and promote this process in each student. Therefore, classes are smaller and highly individualized. Propping and careful attention to alignment are utilized in order to facilitate spinal release. All of this is carried through the body without pain or strain as students learn and experience the principles of support and release. Beginning with the first pose, Shavasana (Relaxation Pose), students learn to lean or rest into the support of the floor. In each class students learn to lean into propping as well as their own skeletal structure for support, perpetuating the release of tension along the spine and throughout the body.

Poses are customized to your body's needs, and personal alignments and adjustments are included in each class or private session.

Please wear comfortable clothing to class. All props are provided in class
